RICHMOND, Va. – It's still early in the 2013 season, but Romana Kriskova may be running low on shelf space for her awards.
Kriskova, a sophomore outside hitter from Bratislava, Slovakia, picked up her second consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honor Monday. The award comes two days after Kriskova led the Rams (8-2) to three wins at the Lady Vol Classic and earned an All-Tournament citation for the third straight week.
At the Lady Vol Classic, Kriskova was a force of nature, averaging 5.29 kills per set while hitting .280. She also averaged 2.21 digs and 0.79 blocks per set.
Kriskova spiked at least 14 kills in all four of the Rams' matches over the weekend, including a career-high 28 in VCU's victory over host Tennessee, the program's first against an SEC school. Kriskova recorded 33.5 points against the Lady Vols, the most by a Ram since 2002.
This season, Kriskova is averaging a conference-best 4.92 kills and 5.87 points per set, while hitting .299. Her 19 service aces are also a team-best. She has registered at least 20 kills in a match four times this season.
VCU and Kriskova will return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at High Point at 7 p.m.
