SENIORS LEAD AS RAMS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN

TALKING POINTS
  • Seniors Kristin Boyd, Marisa Low, Jasmine Waters and Anett Farkas led the Rams to victory in the final home match of their careers.
  • VCU Coach James Finley won the 150th match of his VCU career. He is 150-115 in eight seasons with the Rams.  
  • Boyd spiked 11 kills and hit .611. She did not commit and error in 18 attempts.
  • Farkas provided nine kills, while Waters added seven, four blocks and two service aces.
  • Low dug 12 balls for the Rams.  
  • VCU hit .367 on the night and matched a season-low with just five hitting errors.
  • Cecilia Aragao dished out 30 assists to lead the VCU offense.
  • The Rams fell behind in the third set by a 15-10 margin, but four Farkas kills sparked a 7-2 VCU run to tie the match at 17-17. VCU took the lead for good a short time later when Boyd ripped three kills in 6-0 burst to give the Rams a 23-18 edge.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • VCU won its 10th conference match Thursday, its most since the Rams finished 12-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association in 2009.
  • Finley's 150 wins are the second most by a VCU Volleyball coach. Wendy Wadsworth is the program's all-time leader with 169.
  • Boyd and Low have each played four seasons with the Rams. Over that span, the Rams are 81-51. Farkas and Waters transferred into the program prior to the 2010 season.
WHAT'S NEXT
VCU's regular season is complete. The Rams have secured the No. 3 seed for the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Nov. 16-18, which will be hosted by Duquesne in Pittsburgh.
