Richmond, Va. (Verizon Wireless Arena)
VCU 23-5 (9-4 A-10), Dayton 22-4 (13-0 A-10)

  • VCU hit .348, but was unable to slow down 14th-ranked Dayton Sunday. The Flyers, who have lost just three sets in conference play this season, charged to their 14th straight win.
  • Dayton hit .388 in the match and was led by Megan Campbell's 13 kills on 20 swings.
  • Freshman Martina Samadan supplied an outstanding offensive performance for VCU with 12 kills on 16 attempts. She also recorded three blocks.
  • Freshman Romana Kriskova and senior Kristin Boyd added 11 and nine kills, respectively, for the Rams.
  • VCU charged to a 14-8 lead in the second set, but Rachel Krabacher supplied two kills and Campbell was party to two blocks to spark a 6-0 Dayton run to tie the frame. The Rams pulled back in front 19-16 on a Samadan block and kill, only to watch the Flyers score the next six points, three on Krabacher kills, to take control at 22-19 on the way to a 25-22 win.
  • The Rams used a 4-0 run, which included two Boyd kills and one solo block, to take a 19-18 lead in the third set. Later, with the set tied at 22-all, Campbell closed the book on VCU with three straight kills off Samantha Selsky sets.
  • Dayton's visit marked the first time the Rams have hosted a ranked opponent at the Verizon Wireless Arena since it opened in 1999.
  • With three blocks, Samadan (156) moved within two of the VCU single-season record. She trails only teammate Jasmine Waters and former Ram Kelsie Clegg, who collected 157 blocks in 2011 and 2009, respectively.
  • VCU is 9-4 in Atlantic 10 play and currently in third place. The Rams can secure the No. 3 seed in the A-10 Tournament with a win in their final conference match of the regular season Thursday.
VCU welcomes Charlotte to the Verizon Wireless Arena on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. on Senior Day. It will be VCU's final regular season match.
