VCU TRIPPED UP AT FORDHAM

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lisa Hipp led all players with 15 kills to spark Fordham.
  • Although the match was even statistically in most areas, VCU committed 13 service errors, while Fordham was limited to eight.
  • VCU out blocked Fordham 16-11 and out hit the Bronx, N.Y. school .203 to .199.
  • Senior Anett Farkas provided 14 kills, while classmate Jasmine Waters added seven kills and eight assists for VCU. Sophomore setter Cecilia Aragao handed out 42 assists for VCU.
  • VCU fell behind 1-0 after Fordham hit .355 on the way to a 25-21 victory in the opening set.
  • With the match tied at 1-1, VCU took a 12-11 lead in the third set before Fordham took control with a 7-2 run to make it 18-14.

  • Senior outside hitter Kristin Boyd recorded 10 kills Sunday to move into sole possession of third place on VCU's career list with 1,143.
  • With eight blocks, Waters moved within three of passing former teammate Courtney Hott (308) for sixth on the school's career list.
