HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman Romana Kriskova hit .688 with 12 kills, eight digs and five blocks as VCU coasted to a 3-0 sweep of Rhode Island.
  • VCU outhit Rhode Island .312 to .010. Rhody committed 25 hitting errors.
  • After nine ties and seven lead changes during the first set, VCU did not trail again the rest of the night.
  • VCU also received a match-high 14 digs from sophomore Amanda Love, as well as eight blocks from classmate Janelle Sykes.
  • VCU outblocked Rhode Island 9-3.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • VCU has been outblocked once this season and owns a 189.5 to 96.5 advantage in that category.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between VCU and Rhode Island.
  • VCU Head Coach James Finley improved to 140-112 in eight seasons in Richmond. He ranks second in school history in victories behind only Wendy Wadsworth, who was 169-167 during two stints with the Rams.
  • Senior Kristin Boyd provided six kills Wednesday and needs four more to move past Lauren Connell (1,136) and into third place in school history.
