RICHMOND, Va. – Hopefully Martina Samadan brought a big suitcase with her from Croatia. She's going to need a place to put all this hardware.

Samadan, who has been named to three All-Tournament teams in as many weeks, picked up her second Atlantic 10 Conference honor Monday when she was named the league's Rookie of the Week.
A freshman middle blocker from Split, Croatia, Samadan was one of the driving forces between VCU's 4-0 week, which included the Rams' own Third Degree Sportswear Invitational Sept. 7-8 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. In four matches, she hit .333 and averaged 2.58 kills and 1.05 blocks per set. She also served up three aces.
Samadan was nearly flawless in VCU's 3-2 win over Middle Tennessee State Sept. 3, spiking 11 kills while hitting .588. On Friday, Samadan helped the Rams to their first win over Virginia since 1985 with eight kills and seven blocks. The following day, she combined for 30 kills and 12 blocks in defeats of Appalachian State and Georgetown.
Samadan leads VCU (9-1) in points (136.0), hitting percentage (.359) and blocks per set (1.30) and is second in kills per set (2.33).
She'll search for more accolades this weekend, when the Rams travel to West Point, N.Y. for the Army Invitational.
