RICHMOND, Va. – Peter Green (pictured, right) and Chris Nook have joined the Virginia Commonwealth University Volleyball staff for 2012, Head Coach James Finley announced Wednesday.
The latest additions complete a staff that includes Finley, entering his eighth season at VCU, and assistants Nick Petrovic and Kelly Morrisroe, in their second and first seasons, respectively.
Boasting nearly a decade of collegiate coaching experience, Green will serve as a volunteer assistant for the Rams.
Green joins VCU from Chowan University, where as head coach, he led the Hawks to a 99-42 mark from 2008-2011. Green directed Chowan to consecutive Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships in 2009 and 2010, as well as a runner-up finish in 2011.
Under his tutelage, the Hawks earned nine First Team All-CIAA awards, five second team honors and five All-Rookie citations. Chowan also boasted the CIAA Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011 and the league's Rookie of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
From 2003-08, Green worked as an assistant at nearby Randolph-Macon College, focusing on player development, scouting and recruiting efforts. In addition to helping turn the Yellow Jackets into a perennial league title contender, Green recruited a pair of conference Players of the Year.
Green also has extensive club and high school experience, including his work for Beach Elite and Coastal Volleyball.
Meanwhile, Nook (pictured, left) will become VCU's video coordinator and oversee the filming of practice and games, as well as the breakdown and cataloguing of video for scouting and player development purposes. Nook previously served as a manager at Milwaukee, where he also played club volleyball for a season.
Nook graduated from Milwaukee in 2011 with a degree in political science and law studies and has four years of high school coaching experience, most recently at Ozaukee High School in Fredonia, Wis. He's also coached on the club level for five seasons in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida.
