RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Volleyball Team has announced its 2011 spring volleyball schedule, which begins this weekend.
The Rams kick off spring ball on Saturday, March 26 when they travel to the University of Virginia to meet in-state rivals Norfolk State, Liberty and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech won 20 matches last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Penn State.
On April 2, VCU will head north to Philadelphia, where the Rams will compete at Villanova.
The following weekend, the Black and Gold will play host to East Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Norfolk State, Hampton and Towson. The Rams will field two squads, which will include alumni, at the Siegel Center.
Spring play will conclude on April 16, when VCU heads to Durham, N.C. for a tournament at Duke University. The Blue Devils were an NCAA quarterfinalist in 2010 and are a perennial ACC power.
