NEWARK, Del. – Senior Kelsie Clegg (Boise, Idaho) was named All-Colonial Athletic Association for the second straight year and was one of three Virginia Commonwealth University players to garner all-league honors Friday night at the CAA Awards Banquet.

Clegg, a 6-5 middle blocker, earned a spot for an outstanding senior season in which she ranked third in the CAA in hitting percentage (.306) and blocks per set (1.19). A Third Team All-CAA pick in 2009, Clegg really shined in conference play, where she hit .329, averaged 1.91 kills and 1.38 blocks per set.
Fellow senior Mariel Frey (Lititz, Pa.) joined Clegg on All-CAA Second Team. It's Frey's first all-conference award.
Frey is enjoying a career year for the Rams in 2010. In 31 matches, she has averaged a team-high 2.62 kills per set, as well as 2.12 digs. The outside hitter has also fired a team-high 33 service aces and piled up 76 blocks, second-most on the team.
In addition to the Rams' pair of All-CAA Second Teamers, freshman setter Ciara Brown (Fort Myers, Fla.) was selected to the league's all-rookie squad. Brown helped to direct the VCU attack and averaged a team-high 6.50 assists per game. In addition, she averaged 0.52 kills, 1.72 digs and served up a 16 aces.
VCU's trio of All-CAA honorees will lead the Rams into this weekend's CAA Tournament. Fourth-seeded VCU will meet host and top-seeded Delaware Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Hens' Barb Viera Court at the Carpenter Sports Building.
