RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Mariel Frey (Lititz, Pa.) and Kelsie Clegg (Boise, Idaho) combined for 15 kills and Virginia Commonwealth University routed Hampton 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-17) in the Rams' shortest match of the season Tuesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

Frey led all players with nine kills and nine digs, while sophomore Courtney Hott (Fredericksburg, Va.) blasted seven kills and hit .462 for the Rams (12-19). VCU hit .350 on the night and needed just 62 minutes to top the Pirates (7-25) for the 24th straight time.
VCU dominated every statistical category in their final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Nov. 20-21 in Newark, Del. Hampton hit just .100, while the Rams had more service aces (5-1), digs (34-24) and blocks (5-2).
Clegg added six kills and did not commit an error in 11 attempts for VCU. The Rams also received five kills from junior Jessica Ojukwu (Sao Paulo, Brazil), as well as four apiece from sophomores Anett Farkas (Budapest, Hungary) and Kristin Boyd (Wilmington, N.C.).
Joana Kalfinova led the Pirates with seven kills and three digs.
VCU's Clegg, Frey and Ojukwu were honored prior to the match as part of Senior Night festivities.
The Rams will return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 20 when it meets top-seeded and host Delaware at 7:30 p.m. in the second of two CAA semifinals at the Carpenter Sports Complex.
