Senior Taylor McCormick was recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference as the Women's Field Performer of the Week after a career performance at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Saturday.
The Glen Allen, Va. native won the triple jump among attached athletes with a 12.33m (40'5.50") mark. McCormick's jump broke the school record of 12.31m that she set herself at last year's Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. Prior to that, the record had stood six years, dating back to Chaneka Perry's 12.29m mark set in 2012.
This was the second time this season that McCormick, who sits alone atop the Atlantic 10 in the event, has cleared 12m. She also currently ranks in the top 60 in the nation.
McCormick and the Rams will rest this week as they prepare for the Conference Championships taking place Feb. 17 and 18 in Kingston R.I. McCormick will look to repeat as triple jump champion having won the event in route to a conference title in 2017.
