JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Prior to this spring, only one female in VCU Track & Field history had reached the NCAA postseason in two individual events. Jaleesa Williams made it two when she joined six-time All-American Maria Elena Calle in that feat.

Williams rounded out her shot put career with yet another record breaking performance en route to a top-40 performance at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

The Virginia Beach, Va. native followed up her historic discus performance on Friday by breaking her own record in the shot put with a toss of 49' 1", adding over eight inches to her old mark.

She entered the postseason ranked 47th in the East in the shot put. Her performance put her 32nd, 15 spots above her previous ranking.

Williams will now head back to Richmond to prepare for her second straight NCAA Championship appearance in Oregon in two weeks.
