RICHMOND, Va. – There's one word that sums up Kiara Porter's career at VCU: legendary.
Porter is only in her junior season with the Rams but has already cemented herself as one of the all-time great in VCU Athletics history. Her case got even stronger on Thursday when she was official announced as an entry into the NCAA East Preliminary Round for the third consecutive season.
The Yorktown, Va. will run in the 400-meter for the third time and will be looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the second straight spring. She already has two All-American honors on her record.
Porter enters the postseason ranked 12th in the East Region with a time of 52.92. She will lace them in the first round of the 400 on Thursday, May 29 at 7:45 p.m. The top half of the field (48 athletes) advances to the quarterfinals on Friday, May 30.
The top 12 athletes in the quarterfinals advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 11-14.
