RICHMOND, Va. – There's rewriting the record books and then there's completely torching it and making a new version. Junior Kiara Porter has done the latter in her three years with the VCU women's track & field program.
After this weekend's performance at the Mason Spring Invitational, Porter now owns every sprint record (60m to 500m) in both the indoor and outdoor seasons at VCU. Her record-breaking performance this past weekend earned her the Atlantic 10 Women's Track & Field Performer of the Week honor.
In an event she rarely competes in, Porter smashed the old 100m record of 11.53, clocking in at 11.38.
The time of 11.38 is currently tied for the 13th-fastest time in the country this spring.
Porter and the Rams will head to the Kentucky Relays this upcoming weekend.
