RICHMOND, Va. – "Getting to Know" is a feature on that highlights student-athletes from the 16 intercollegiate athletic programs that make up "Ram Nation." Each addition, VCU Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Marle van Dessel chats with selected student-athletes from various programs to get inside their world and let us know a little more about them.

This edition of GTK features sophomore thrower Jaleesa Williams from the VCU track & field program. The Virginia Beach, Va. native has been a huge part of the Rams turnaround in the throwing events along with her twin sister, Jessica. This year, Jaleesa broke the school record in the indoor shot put with a toss of 47' 9 ¾". She's a vital part of the team that has eyes on its first-ever CAA Championship this spring.

Already a few weeks into the outdoor season, Williams sat down with van Dessel to give us a little more of an in-depth look at herself.

MVD: Why did you choose VCU?
My sister, Jessica, and I received the opportunity to throw together

MVD: Who inspired you to get involved with track and field?
My parents

MVD: If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?
Trinidad because that is where my father is from

MVD: If you could have dinner with any three people in the world, who would they be and why?

I can play the harmonica

MVD:  What is the most embarrassing moment you have ever had on the track?
Throwing at outdoor states (2009), with almost my whole right side wrapped up, because of cuts due to falling. The next day, some of the girls were saying, "The girl that won, won with a broken leg and wrist."
