RICHMOND, Va. – The hard work that the VCU track team put in on the track in the fall has been proven with the record-breaking performances that the Rams are putting forth each weekend. What most people don't know is that at the same time, the teams have been working just as hard in the classroom.

"As a coaching staff, we've really tried to focus on recruiting good, solid athletes that can perform both in the classroom and in their events," Head Coach Jon Riley said.

The fall semester proved that Riley and his staff are finding those student-athletes with 35 members of the track program being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, with 15 of those also earning Dean's List accolades.

"We're very proud of our student-athletes achievements in the classroom," Riley said. "I glow when I see our athletes succeed academically. It is a wonderful accomplishment for our program. We can and will  do better, so I challenge every athlete to dig down deep and try a little harder each day."

Junior Josh Bostick from the men's team, along with sophomore Christina Garland, freshman Kelsey Grupp and seniors Stephanie Newing and Nicole Walters from the women's team all finished the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average.
