Women’s Tennis Opens 2013 Slate With Wins Over Georgetown, Campbell in VCU 4-1 Invitational

THE BASICS:
  • The VCU Women's Tennis squad opened the 2013 spring season with victories over Georgetown and Campbell on day one of the annual VCU 4-1 Invitational at Thalhimer Tennis Center on Friday.
  • Senior Josefin Hjertquist picked up a singles win against both Georgetown and Campbell.
  • The Rams were winners in both of their doubles matches as the team of juniors Olga Terteac and Daria Yakauleva (pictured) defeated Georgetown's Liz Hamlin and Kelly Comolli (6-3, 6-4), while Cindy Chala and Yukako Noi beat Campbell's duo of Renz/Vaughn (6-0, 6-0) in the nightcap.
  • Chala and Noi also won singles matches against Georgetown, while sophomore Salome Kvitashvili picked up a win against Campbell.
