RAMS WIN NINTH STRAIGHT TO ADVANCE TO CAA SEMIFINALS WITH 4-0 DEFEAT OF DREXEL

NORFOLK, Va. – In all sports, there are a lot of times that regular season momentum doesn't transfer over when tournament time hits.

That doesn't appear to be the case with the VCU women's tennis team as they rolled to their ninth straight win in the CAA quarterfinals, 4-0 over Drexel. The Rams will now face the winner of fourth-seeded William & Mary and fifth-seeded Old Dominion.

Leading the way was senior Ana Bara, who teamed with her sister, Alex Bara to get things started in the doubles competition. The sisters blasted Drexel's top doubles duo of Sonja Stosic and Zeynep Mafa, 8-1, to help secure the doubles point in VCU's favor.

Bara then got the singles competition started for the Black & Gold with an easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Stosic at the top singles spot.

Freshman Salome Kvitashvili made her CAA Tournament debut with an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over her own at #4 singles, while classmate Alena Gerasimova secured the win for the Rams with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the third singles spot.

VCU will play either William & Mary or ODU on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
