RAMS PICK UP BIG ROAD WIN OVER SOUTH FLORIDA, 4-1

TAMPA, Fla. – Winning on the road is a trait that most championship-caliber teams have on their resume.

That bodes well for the VCU women's tennis squad who picked up a big road win on Friday with a 4-1 win over South Florida, who was ranked 37th in the latest ITA poll. The Black & Gold have now won five straight and sit at 14-4 on the year.

VCU started its day with the youngsters leading them on the doubles court with freshmen Alena Gerasimova and Salome Kvitashvili picking up an 8-4 win at the third position to kick things off. Sophomores Olga Terteac and Daria Yakauleva solidified the doubles point for the Rams with an 8-6 win at the second doubles spot.

The Bulls squared things up with 41st-ranked Ecaterina Vasenina picked up a win at the top singles spot, but Kvitashvili quickly answered with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the sixth position in the lineup.

Yakauleva would keep momentum with the Black & Gold thanks to a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win at the fifth spot before Gerasimova locked up the win for the Rams by taking home a hard-fought 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory at the fourth position.
