HJERTQUIST REACHES SEMIFINALS AT ITA ATLANTIC REGIONALS

Hjertquist must really like this time of year.
For the second straight year, the Spanga, Sweden native posted strong outing at the ITA Atlantic Regionals, this time she reached the semifinals at the event to highlight the Virginia Commonwealth University women's tennis team's weekend.
Hjertquist rolled to a 4-1 record, including a thrilling 6-4, 6-3 win over third-seeded Lindsey Hardenbergh of Virginia to reach the semifinals, but fell to top-seeded Michaela Kissel of Marshall. She also teamed with junior Ana Bara (pictured, right) to pick up a doubles victory over a duo from Radford, 8-2.
Bara had a solid weekend herself, notching two victories at the regionals. She took down Navy's Amanda Griffin and Virginia's Rashmi Teltumbde before falling to Hana Tomljanovic.
The tournament wrapped up the Black & Gold's fall schedule as the Rams will take the winter to prepare for the opening spring tournament, VCU's 4-1 Invitational at the Thalhimer Tennis Center in January.
