FOURTEEN IN-STATE MATCHES HIGHLIGHT 2014 VCU WOMEN’S SOCCER SCHEDULE

RICHMOND, Va. – The thousands of VCU alumni that litter the Commonwealth of Virginia will have plenty of chances to see the women's soccer team play this upcoming fall.

Led by Head Coach Lindsey Vanderspiegel in her second season, the Rams play inside the state 14 times this fall, which highlights their 2014 schedule. VCU also plays four ACC squads this fall.

Two in-state exhibitions kick off the Black & Gold's schedule with VMI visiting Richmond on Saturday, August 13 and the Rams making the trip up to Charlottesville to take on 2013 College Cup participant, Virginia, on Monday, August 18.

VCU opens up its regular season against ACC foe and in-state rival Virginia Tech on Friday, August 22. The road trip continues with a Sunday, August 24 matchup with Marshall in Huntington, W.V. The Black & Gold wrap up their three-game road swing with a trip to Old Dominion on Friday, August 29.

A Sunday afternoon tilt against ACC foe Clemson kicks off VCU's homeslate on August 31. The Rams follow that up with a home game against former CAA foe Drexel on Friday, September 5.

The Black & Gold hit the road for two games, James Madison (Sunday, Sept. 7) and Pittsburgh (Friday, Sept. 12), before returning home to Sports Backers for three straight games.

First up is American on Sunday, Sept. 14, followed by visits from Penn (Friday, Sept. 19) and Longwood (Sunday, Sept. 21).

Atlantic 10 Conference play kicks off on Friday, October 3 when the Rams visit Fordham in the Bronx, N.Y. VCU will visit La Salle on Sunday, October 5 to wrap up the first weekend of conference play.

Four straight A-10 home games await the Rams with Rhode Island (Sunday, Oct. 12), Richmond (Friday, Oct. 17), Davidson (Sunday, Oct. 19) and George Washington (Saturday, Oct. 25) all visiting Sports Backers.

VCU wraps up its regular season on the road with trips to St. Louis (Friday, Oct. 31) and Dayton (Sunday, Nov. 2) before the Atlantic 10 Tournament begins in Dayton on Thursday, Nov. 6.
