Trio of Rams Earn Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer All-Conference Recognition

RICHMOND, Va. – A trio of VCU Women's Soccer student-athletes earned Atlantic 10 Conference postseason recognition on Wednesday after helping the Rams claim a berth in the league tournament.

Senior forward Courtney Conrad, senior defender Casey Boyer and sophomore goalkeeper Emma Kruse each earned second team honors, while Boyer also garnered all-academic distinction.

Conrad, who has started all 18 matches for the Rams this season, enters the conference tournament with a team-best 13 points, including a team-high four goals and five assists.  The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native has earned an all-conference citation each season during her collegiate career.

Boyer, meanwhile, has been a staple on VCU's backline this year helping the Rams earn six shutouts en route to a nine-match unbeaten streak midway through the season.  She also scored the game-winning goal, the first of her career, in a 1-0 win over Duquesne on Oct. 18, while helping VCU log 17 clean sheets over the past two years.

Kruse has played every minute in goal this season for the Rams, while ranking second in the A-10 in saves (84) and saves per game (4.7), fourth in shutouts (6) and eighth in save percentage (.764).

Eighth-seeded VCU, which is hosting the 2013 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship at Sports Backers Stadium, begins play on Thursday, Nov. 7 against No. 1 Dayton at 5 p.m.
