Getting to Know: Sharon Wojcik

VCU Athletics is enjoying some of the best success in its near 50 years of history. That success has come both on the playing field and in the classroom. That success does not happen without the hardwork and dedication of our 270-plus student-athletes.

However, there's more than just the classroom and playing field for our student-athletes and that's why every Wednesday VCUathletics.com will bring you a Getting to Know feature on one of our student-athletes.

This week, we chatted with sophomore Sharon Wojcik of the VCU women's soccer team. Wojcik has been a critical piece to the Rams' recent success, helping the Black & Gold post an unbeaten streak that is currently at five.

The transfer from N.C. State recently sat down with VCU Center for Sports Leadership Graduate Assistant Zach Reynolds.

Here's your chance to Get to Know: Sharon Wojcik.

ZR:    How did you decide VCU was the right place for you?

SW: I love the city of Richmond and knew the team here was great. I thought it was a good opportunity for me.

ZR:  Beyond sports, where do you see yourself in ten years?

SW: I'm hoping to be working as an occupational therapist somewhere.

ZR:  What are your goals for the season?

SW:  As a team, we are focused on trying to win the Atlantic 10 Conference championship. As an individual, my goal is to make the all-conference team.

ZR:  What is your favorite athletic moment at VCU?

SW: I haven't been here that long, but so far it was our first home weekend and winning that tournament.

ZR:  What is one thing many people do not know about you?

SW: I'm half Korean

ZR:  If you could be any fictional character, who would it be, and why?

SW: I'd have to go with Batman because he helps the good guys.

ZR:  Is there a professional athlete, or former player, whose skills you emulate?

SW: Thoughts of different players, but mostly I'd say Messi.
