Granados Joins Costa Rican National Team for Friendly Against U.S.

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Soccer sophomore midfielder Cristin Granados will have some extra plans this weekend.

Granados is headed to Rochester, N.Y. to meet up with the Costa Rican National Team, which is playing the United States in a friendly on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. NBC Sports Network will be airing the match.

The U.S. squad, which won the gold medal in last month's London Olympics, is expected to play all of its regulars.

The Cartago, Costa Rica native has earned eight international caps over the past two years as a member of Costa Rica's Women's National Team. She played a significant role during Costa Rica's run in the CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying tournament in 2010. Granados has also played in the prestigious National Division I in Costa Rica, claiming the league scoring title in 2009 and 2010.

Granados, in her sophomore season with the Rams, was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year in 2011 after tying for the team lead with six goals. Through four matches this season, she has tallied a goal and an assist.
