RAMS’ GRANADOS NAMED TO SOCCER AMERICA’S NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, Va. – Coming off two-straight Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors, VCU freshman midfielder Cristin Granados has caught the eye of the national media as she was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week after scoring back-to-back game-winning goals for the Rams over the weekend.

Granados' efforts helped VCU to its third win in a row and fourth consecutive shutout as the Black & Gold picked up a pair of 1-0 victories over UNC Wilmington and Georgia State.  The Cartago, Costa Rica native, who fired seven shots with four on goal in both wins, netted the game-winner off a corner kick with less than three minutes remaining in VCU's victory over UNCW on Oct. 7.  She then found the net as time expired in the Rams' win over Georgia State on Oct. 9.

Granados leads the Rams with nine points, including a team-high tying four goals and an assist.  She has scored a goal in VCU's last three games.

VCU has allowed just 12 goals (0.86 gaa) all year, which is the second-fewest in the CAA.  The Rams have yielded just three goals in their last seven matches and have not surrendered a goal in the previous 443 minutes.  VCU has held an opponent scoreless six times this season.

The Rams, who are currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the CAA, begin their final road trip of the season at Delaware on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.  VCU then concludes its road schedule on Oct. 16 at Drexel.  The Black & Gold finishes the regular season with three straight home matches.
