RICHMOND, Va. – Kseniya Malashka (Minsk, Belarus), a standout on Belarus' national teams, has signed with VCU and will join the Rams for 2018-19, Head Coach Beth O'Boyle announced Thursday.
"We are very excited to welcome Kseniya to the VCU family," O'Boyle said. "Kseniya is a very talented player who has a multi-faceted skill set, she can score off the bounce, from deep behind the arc, and with her back to the basket. I'm looking forward to Kseniya bringing her high level international playing experience and her great passion for the game to our program."
Malashka, a 6-0 forward, averaged 11.7 points and 8.4 rebounds at the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship in 2017. She poured in 23 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked four shots in a game against Portugal in that tournament. She also showcased her range in that contest, knocking down 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. Belarus placed sixth in the 24-team field.
In 2016, she averaged a double-double for Belarus at the U16 Division A Women's European Championship with 11.3 points and 13.9 rebounds, as well as 3.3 assists. In the U16 Division B draw in 2015, Malashka supplied 14.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
