VIRGINIA LOTTERY STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: JAILYN MADDOX

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball guard Jailyn Maddox was named the Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for efforts on the court this past week.

The freshman from Hoover, Alabama scored a career-high 15 points in The Black and Gold's 55-52 win over the Minutewomen of Massachusetts on Saturday, Jan. 28.

"With more experience the game has definitely slowed down and my teammates seem to have more confidence in me. As they have more confidence in me I start to have more confidence in myself, that led to shots falling".

Maddox went 5-of-12 from the field against Massachusettes and knocked down 3-of-6 attempts from behind the arch.

Due to her stellar performance, Maddox was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as well.
