RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its 2013-14 women's basketball schedule pairings on Thursday as part of its 16-game league slate.
VCU will have home-and-home series against Duquesne, Richmond, defending A-10 champion Saint Joseph's and UMass.
The Rams will also welcome Saint Louis, 2013 league runner-up Fordham, St. Bonaventure as well as A-10 newcomer and former Colonial Athletic Association rival George Mason to the Verizon Wireless Arena this year. In addition, VCU will make trips to nationally ranked Dayton, George Washington, La Salle and Rhode Island.
The league's 13 teams will face each opponent once and four teams twice. VCU's complete 2013-14 conference schedule, including its non-conference opponents, will be announced at a later date.
Under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Marlene Stollings last year, VCU qualified for the A-10 Tournament in its inaugural season in the league, despite returning just 20 percent of its offense (fewest in A-10) and 31 percent of its minutes played (second-fewest in A-10). The Rams will mix a talented core of returners with seven new faces in 2013-14, including the top recruiting class in the league, 38th-best in the nation, and third highest among all non-BCS schools.
