Stuart Siegel, a longtime ardent supporter of VCU Athletics, has bequeathed $3 million to the organization in conjunction with the ongoing Make it Real Campaign for VCU.

“VCU Athletics would not be what we are today without Stuart's incredible generosity,“ said Ed McLaughlin, VCU’s Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics.  “He has given so much of himself to our department over many years, including his amazing financial support. Our rapid growth to a nationally-elite program started with the Siegel Center being built. This gift will impact many, many future generations of VCU Rams.”
“Make it Real” is the University’s largest-ever capital campaign, and seeks to raise $750 million before 2020. More than $466 million has already been committed to the campaign, which includes funds earmarked for VCU Athletics. Those funds will be vital to ensuring a high-quality experience for the department’s more than 300 student-athletes and will drive future infrastructure projects.
Siegel has been a courtside staple at VCU Basketball games for decades. The businessman and philanthropist was an early backer of the program’s push for a new basketball arena, one that bears his name today, the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
“Our Legacy giving program is a critical step for our strategic fundraising efforts,” said VCU Executive Associate Athletic Director Glenn Hofmann. “Stuart’s gift and the passion he has for VCU Athletics and our future is inspiring and gives great confidence that we will continue to provide our student-athletes with a positive experience."
