BERKHEDLE, DYBAS LEAD RAMS AT LOU ONESTY OPEN

RICHMOND, Va. – The leadership of the Virginia Commonwealth University men's cross country is one that leads by example.

Take the 2010 season for instance as seniors Walid Berkhedle (Toronto, Ontario) and Piotr Dybas (Jaslo, Poland) each tallied top-four finishes at the Lou Onesty Open, hosted by the University of Virginia, on Friday evening.

With the seniors leading the way, the Black & Gold finished third overall at the season opening meet for all the squads. The Rams finished just nine points off the winner, Norfolk State.

Berkhedle finished just four seconds off the leader's pace, claiming second overall, while Dybas was close behind in fourth place. Berkhedle clocked in at 25:07.36 over the eight-kilometer course, while Dybas broke the tape in 25:17.69.

Rounding out the scorers for VCU was sophomore Justin Kendall (15th – 26:18.94), senior John Vial (17th – 26:28.38) and sophomore Brenden Leavitt (21st – 26:44.54).

VCU is back in action in two weeks when it hits the course at the Hagan Stone Park Invitational in Greensboro, N.C.
