RICHMOND, Va. – Aliyah Newman, Xyan Xrichardson, and Taylor McCormick each earned Atlantic 10 Conference honors on Wednesday in recognition of their accomplishments during the spring season. Newman and Xrichardson were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team, while McCormick received All-Academic honors.

Newman, who was also named to the All-Rookie team during the indoor season, produced an even more impressive spring. The Chesterfield, Va. native broke the school triple jump record with a 12.79m mark.

She took home the gold during the Atlantic 10 Championships and earned another first place finish at the George Mason Spring Invitational. On top of her accomplishments in-conference Newman qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary meet.

Xrichardson, a freshman from Haymarket, Va., also earned All-Rookie honors for a second consecutive season. Like Newman, Xrichardson found success during the conference championships and claimed bronze in high jump. He also ranked third on the conference leaderboard with a 2.09m mark. Xrichardson earned two other top-three finishes throughout the spring.

McCormick ended her senior season with All-Academic honors. The Glen Allen, Va. native maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout her collegiate career and will attend law school at George Washington University in the fall. Last week, the Atlantic 10 awarded McCormick with a $5,000 post-graduate scholarship.

Throughout her four years at VCU McCormick grabbed three conference triple jump titles and set multiple school records in the event.
