DAVIS GRABS FIRST PLACE HURDLE FINISH AT COASTAL CAROLINA INVITE

The Short Story: VCU appeared fresh during the second day of the Coastal Carolina Invitational with sophomore Ian Davis winning the 110m hurdles. The men's 4x400m relay team also earned a first place finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Coming off a first place hurdles finish during the indoor conference championships, Davis won the 110m hurdles with a 14.68 time.
  • The men's 4x400m relay team also grabbed a first place finish with a time of 3:17.24. Sophomore Chukwuezugo Aguolu led off for the squad and was followed by Kahlil Shepard, Devon Thompson, and Bigal Harrison.
  • Thompson, alongside Marcus Finnie, Justin West, and Kareem Payne, also found success in the 4x100m relay placing second. 42.59 was their time in that race.
  • It was freshman Xyan Xrichardson contributing to the Rams' effort in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.95m, good enough for third overall.
  • Distance runners Austin Conway and Bryce Catlett each earned top-six finishes in the 1,500m, placing fourth and sixth, respectively.
  • Zayd Abdul-Ali timed in at 58.63 in the 400m hurdles, earning a fourth place finish in a field of 19.
