RAMS BEGIN INDOOR SEASON AT CNU HOLIDAY INVITE

Meet: CNU Holiday Invite
Location: Newport News, Va.

The Short Story: The Rams competed in their first meet of the new season on Saturday at the CNU Holiday Invite. VCU was out of the blocks quickly taking several first and second place finishes. Junior Marcus Finnie leapt to first place in long jump for the second consecutive year.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Devin Bethea jumped to a new best with a 47'4'' (14.42) triple jump that was good enough for second place amongst a field of 11 competitors.
  • Freshman Xyan Xrichardson began his collegiate career with a third place finish in high jump after clearing 6'8".
  • The 4x400 meter relay team was the second to cross the finish line, beating out 16 others.
  • Sophomore Ian Davis' 8.36 in the 60 meter hurdles finals earned him a third place overall finish.
  • In the 200-meter dash Jamik Alexander ran the third fastest time at 22.34.
  • Freshman Jacob Greenless took second in the weight throw during his first ever college meet. The Woonsocket, R.I. native set the mark at 14.41m.
