KOURLESIS, BURRELL LEAD RAMS AT MASON LAST CHANCE MEET
FAIRFAX, Va. – There's a quote that
says "Opportunities are never lost; someone will take the one you
miss."
Well, redshirt freshman Chris Kourlesis (Richmond,
Va.) made sure he didn't miss his opportunity as he earned
a spot in next week's IC4A Championships to lead a small group from
the Virginia Commonwealth University men's track & field at
this past weekend's Mason Last Chance Meet.
Kourlesis locked up a spot in the IC4A Championships after a
third-place finish and a leap of 47' ½" in the triple jump.
He is the 11th and final Ram to qualify for next week's
championship event.
Freshman Clinton Burrell (Woodbridge, Va.) was
also a highlight in a slow weekend as he captured his first
collegiate victory with a time of 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdles,
right ahead of Kourlesis, who added to his solid weekend.
The Rams will now take the week to prepare for their trip up to
Boston and the IC4As.
