VCU MEN’S TENNIS NAMED ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM; FOUR RAMS HONORED

RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Men's Tennis team flexed its muscle again, this time academically.

The 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Champions where honored this week as an ITA All-Academic Team, a designation reserved for squads that post a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 of above (on a 4.00 scale). VCU was named an ITA All-Academic Team in 2016 as well, and the program has racked up numerous academic honors in nearly three decades under Head Coach Paul Kostin.

In addition to the ITA team award, four individuals, sophomore Arvid Noren (Pitea, Sweden), freshman Ignacio Crespo (Mallorca, Spain), senior Marten Jonsson (Pitea, Sweden) and senior Jacob Svensson (Lund, Sweden), were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their academic excellence.

In order to receive an ITA Scholar-Athlete award, a player must be a letter winner, achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have been enrolled at their school for a minimum of two semesters.
