FIVE RAMS EARN ALL-ATLANTIC 10 HONORS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – VCU Men's Tennis had five players honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their efforts this year on the court. Seniors Daryl Monfils and Marten Jonsson, along with sophomore Vitor Lima were named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team. Sophomore Arvid Noren and freshman Ignacio Rivero Crespo received honors on the Second Team as well.

Monfils finished his final season with The Black and Gold with an overall singles record of 14-13. The Paris, France native ended his career at VCU with a 34-26 record on the singles court. Jonsson, a native of Pitea, Sweden concluded the season with an overall singles record of 14-12.

Monfils and Jonsson also sported a team-best 14 wins in doubles play, with an overall doubles record of 14-8. The pair was also 11-6 in dual play this spring on the doubles court.

Lima racked up 14 wins on the singles court this season as well. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native is now an impressive 30-27 in his two seasons with The Black and Gold.

During his sophomore campaign, Noren had the second most wins on the team with 19. He wrapped up the season with an overall record of 19-14, and boasted an impressive 16-6 dual record in singles play. Noren is now 36-25 in his career on the singles court.

Rivero Crespo, a rookie from Mallorca, Spain earned All-Conference honors in his first season as a Ram. The newcomer, who transferred weeks before the spring season, finished his rookie campaign with an overall singles record of 10-9.
