The short story: VCU fell to Brown, 4-1 on Saturday evening at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va. Senior Daryl Monfils recorded a point for The Black in Gold in singles play by defeating Peter Tarwid in consecutive sets.
- Monfils downed Tarwid, 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 11-6 overall in singles play this season.
- Monfils and fellow classmate Marten Jonsson picked up a win in doubles play. The pair defeated Peter Tarwid and Anthony Arocho, 6-2. The veteran duo is now 11-4 on the doubles court thus far.
- Jonsson jumped to an early lead on the second court by taking the first set 7-6 (2), but would fall in a tough three set match to Brown's Aaron Sandberg.
- Freshman Javier Amantegui also dropped a tough three set match. The rookie has an overall singles record of 16-9.
