RICHMOND, Va. – Not only have the VCU tennis programs been two of the school's most successful in terms of on-court success, they've also had the same amount of success in the classroom.
That standard didn't change this past year as the ITA honored three Rams for their success in the classroom this past year. Freshmen Sitilia Renchelli, Jacob Svensson and sophomore Michal Voscek were all honored with the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award.
The award recognizes all student-athletes that completed the 2013-14 academic year with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Renchelli is a science major who finished her first year at VCU with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Svensson is a business major with a 3.61 GPA, while Voscek finished his second year with a GPA of 3.7 in urban and regional studies.
At least one member of the tennis squads has earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status in each of the past 26 seasons.
