HEUGAS AND JONES OPEN UP NCAA DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP TODAY

ATHENS, Ga. – Two years ago, senior Alexis Heugas earned All-American status by reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Today, Heugas starts that quest again, this time with a new partner, junior Nick Jones. The duo opens the tournament this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against Nevada's Robert Allen and Victor Ouvard.

Heugas and Jones earned the Atlantic 10's automatic berth into the championship after being the highest ranked doubles pairing in the conference.

On the doubles court, the duo finished the spring ranked #42 by the ITA, sporting a 13-3 ledger. The spring was highlighted by wins over 17th-ranked Jordan Angus and Malte Stropp (Mississippi State) and 46th-ranked Amerigo Contini and Andreas Bjerrehus (Virginia Tech).

A win today would send the pair to face the winner of Hunter Harrington and Dominique Maden (Clemson) and #5 Ross Guignon and Tim Kopinski (Illinois).
