RICHMOND, Va.—Some sophomore seasons can see a fall-off from freshman success. Sophomores Alexis Heugas and Antoine Baroz did not get that note, however, and their success has been rewarded as the Colonial Athletic Association named them Doubles Team of the Week for the third time this year.
A duo that came together just this spring, they are 8-5 on the season at the No. 1 doubles position and rank 65th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. A key victory earlier this season came against Nebraska's team of Muzalewski and Fahouman, an 8-5 win at home.
Currently riding a three-match win streak, their latest victory came against James Madison's Bertrand Moulin and Greg Vladimirsky, 8-5. The Dukes duo won the CAA Doubles Team of the Week award earlier this season.
Baroz is no stranger to doubles success. Last season, Baroz and his partner Time Johannsen were named to the CAA Third Team Doubles after posting a 17-7 record on the spring campaign.
Heugas is experiencing a successful singles season as he is 20-7 on the year and 11-5 this spring, with a 10-5 record at the No. 1 position.
