SANTOS NAMED TO NCAA ALL-AMERICA TEAM

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU senior Rafael Andrade Santos (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) continues to add to his trophy case. On Thursday, the decorated senior midfielder was named NCAA All-America Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches.

Thursday's honor caps an outstanding 2017 campaign for Santos. The 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Santos led the league with 12 goals and 29 points. He provided VCU with five of its 12 game-winning goals in 2017.

Behind Santos, the Rams rolled to a national ranking, 12 victories and a first round bye in the NCAA Tournament. His goals helped lift VCU to wins over No. 9 Maryland and No. 15 UNC Wilmington during the regular season.

Santos has already received an All-Midwest Region citation from the United Soccer Coaches Association, as well as First Team All-Atlantic 10 and VaSID All-State awards, this season.

A four-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference honoree, Santos as logged 48 starts the past four years. He was also named All-Midwest Region following the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
