MEN'S SOCCER NAMED 15TH-BEST RECRUITING CLASS IN 2017

RICHMOND – The VCU Rams Men's Soccer program has a bright future according to TopDrawerSoccer.com, as the Black & Gold have jumped 11 spots from their 26 ranking in their 2017 recruiting rankings. In the last month, the Rams have soared and landed as the number 15 recruiting class in the country in 2017, according to the publication.

With the recent additions of Mario Sequeira and Siad Haji, the Rams pumped up their numbers and jumped notable programs in UCLA, Notre Dame, and Akron. VCU also now holds the top recruiting class in the Atlantic 10, as they passed Duquesne who currently sits at 22 on the list.

"Even though recruiting rankings don't always predict how a player or group of plyers are going to perform, we are very excited for this group of newcomers," said Head Coach David Giffard. "Our staff has worked hard to add young men that we feel can help us to achieve our goals here at VCU. Those are to return to the NCAA Tournament and compete for championships."

The Rams open their season on August 15 with an exhibition versus Georgetown, while regular season play will open on Friday, August 25 when VCU hosts Oakland at Sportsbackers Stadium at 7 p.m.
