MONGE SOLANO EARNS SECOND TEAM ALL-FRESHMAN HONORS FROM COLLEGE SOCCER NEWS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – VCU freshman defender Juan Monge Solano was recently named to the 2011 All-Freshman Teams by College Soccer News, earning second team honors.

The San Jose, Costa Rica, native served as a force on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball for the Rams in 2011. VCU finished the season with a 1.17 goals-against average, which was fourth best among the 12 CAA institutions. Additionally, the Black & Gold notched six shutouts on the season.

Monge Solano finished third on the team offensively, recording 11 points on five goals and one assist.

This marks the third postseason award that Monge Solano has garnered, as he was named to the All-CAA First Team and All-CAA Rookie Team.

Monge Solano was the only CAA student-athlete to receive the distinction from College Soccer News.
