Richmond, Va. - After finishing his first season at the helm of the VCU Men's Soccer program, Head Coach Dave Giffard is continuing to apply his vision to the program. A "winning culture", as the coach likes to say, is something that's present on and off the field. The Black & Gold have continued building this culture in the classroom.
The team posted an impressive 3.06 team GPA in the fall semester, which is nearly half a grade point higher than the previous fall. That average is second at VCU among all men's athletic programs.
Furthermore, 19 members of the men's soccer program were Athletic Department Honor Roll members, which is the highest number for a semester since the arrival of Head Coach Dave Giffard.
"The success of the spring semester was a reflection on Coach Giffard's commitment to academics," said VCU Student-Athlete Development Coordinator Kasey Mattison. "He wants the boys to work to their fullest potential on and off the field."
It may be another five months until the Rams take the field, but the program is already winning.
