THREE DATES SET FOR RAMS SOCCER CAMP
The VCU Men's Soccer coaching staff is looking to pass on their knowledge on the pitch to youngsters in the Metro Richmond area this summer. Head Coach Dave Giffard will be embarking on his first year as the leader of the Rams and it will start with three separate camps. Check out all the options below:
COLLEGE PREP CAMP
When: July 30-August 1
Who: Boys (Ages 14+)
2010 marks the first year of The Rams College Prep Camp, featuring the staff of the VCU Men's Soccer program, as well as other top coaches from across the country. This three-day event is designed for advanced player development and exposure to some of the nation's top college coaches. In addition to college coaches, several Rams players will be employed by the camp for demonstration purposes.
The VCU soccer staff believes believes that "the game is the best teacher." The same philosophy will be applied at camp. The focus of all activities will be learning through play. Enrollment in the camp will be extremely limited to allow individual attention for each player from the staff of college coaches. A combination of small sided and full 11 vs. 11 games will be at the core of the camp curriculum.
When: July 26-30
Who: Boys & Girls (Ages 4-13)
Little Rams (Ages 4-6) 9 a.m.-11 a.m. | Full Day (Ages 7-13) 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cost: $125 (Little Rams) | $275 (Full Day)
Each Day Camp session will focus on skill development for young soccer players. Campers will learn soccer skills and techniques through exercises and games specially designed for the younger player. Campers are encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace under the careful guidance of the VCU soccer staff. The emphasis is always on fun and learning.
When: Session I: Sept. 19-Oct. 24 | Session II: Nov. 21-Dec. 19 & 20
Who: Boys & Girls (Ages 6-9) 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Boys & Girls (Ages 10-13) 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Boys & Girls (Ages 14+) 8 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Over the course of a 90-minute game, with all of its ebbs and flows, the difference between winning and losing at every level comes down to a few moments. Can field players take advantage of scoring opportunities? Can goalkeepers make the one or two saves they have to make to keep their team in the game?
With this in mind, the Rams Soccer School was created. Once a week, all fall long, the Rams staff will give each student the technical and tactical information needed to be a difference maker. Whether you are just getting started or are already an All-American, the Rams Soccer School can take your game to a whole new level. There will be three different options: The Rams Goalkeeper School, The Rams Striker School and the Rams Pre-School.
