RICHMOND, Va. – VCU's Jordan Burgess (Midlothian, Va./Benedictine) will continue his basketball career in 2017-18 after signing a pro deal with Romanian club BC Timisoara.

"I'm beyond blessed for this opportunity. It's a new beginning and I'm excited to get started in Romania," Burgess said.
BC Timisoara plays in Romania's top league, Liga Națională. The team finished 15-18 in 2016-17. Located in the city of Timisoara, Romania's third-largest, BC Timisoara won Romania's National Cup in 2015.
A 6-foot-5, 225-pound wing, Burgess was a mainstay in VCU's lineup the last four seasons. The Midlothian native finished with career averages of 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.  He started 86 games in a VCU uniform and helped the Rams to four NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2015 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament title.
Burgess is the second Ram this summer to ink a deal, joining JeQuan Lewis, who agreed to terms with the Milwaukee Bucks. A third Ram, Mo Alie-Cox signed with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. In the past 15 years, 30 former VCU Basketball players have signed pro contracts, and five have appeared in the NBA.
