RICHMOND, Va. – Junior college guard Xavier Jackson (Hinesville, Ga./Sheridan College) has signed with VCU, Rams Head Coach Mike Rhoades announced this week. Jackson will suit up for VCU in 2017-18 and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jackson averaged 13.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while shooting .359 from beyond the 3-point arc last season for Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming. The 6-foot-3 Jackson produced six 20-point scoring efforts last year for the Generals, including a season-high 31 against Williston State on Nov. 25.
"We're excited to have Xavier and his energy and approach in our program. He'll add depth and some maturity to our team," said Rhoades.
Despite his size, Jackson has shown himself to be an outstanding rebounding guard. He recorded seven double-doubles (points-rebounds) in 2016-17, and reached double digits in rebounds in eight games.
Jackson's signing fills VCU's last remaining scholarship for 2017-18. He will be one of eight newcomers on this year's squad.
VCU finished 26-9 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament for a seventh consecutive season.
