BROOKLYN, N.Y. – VCU will meet Southland Conference Champion Stephen F. Austin Friday in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64 at Viejas Arena in San Diego, the Rams learned Sunday.

The Rams (26-8) received the 5-seed in the South Region. It's the second straight season the Rams have received a 5-seed from the NCAA Selection Committee. VCU's selection for the field of 68 marks a school-record fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. Three of those, including Sunday's, were at-large selections.  VCU has won at least one NCAA Tournament game in each of the last three seasons.
Twelfth-seeded Stephen F. Austin (31-2) won both the Southland regular season and tournament titles on the heels of the nation's longest current winning streak, 28 games.
The Lumberjacks are led by a quintet of double-figure scorers, including Southland Conference Player of the Year Jacob Parker.  Parker, a 6-foot-6 junior forward, averages 14.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.  SFA also has a stable of 3-point shooters, including guards Desmond Haymon and Deshaunt Walker.

The winner of Friday's match-up will face the winner of fourth-seeded UCLA and 13th-seeded Tulsa.
The Rams and LumberJacks will tip off at 7:27 EST (4:27 EST) and the game will be broadcast on TruTV and on the radio on 107.3 FM in Richmond.  Due to NCAA regulations there will be no RamRadio broadcast over the internet.
