The Storylines

> Coming off an eight-day hiatus, VCU returns to action looking to extend its season-high winning streak to seven games when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

> During its current six-game winning streak, VCU has outscored its opposition by an average of 24.5 (82.0-57.5). The Rams have forced exactly double the amount of turnovers it has given up during that stretch (69 to 138), which has led to 80 more field-goal attempts.

> During last Friday's win over Longwood, the Rams piled up 27 assists on 36 field-goals, led by nine apiece from Briante Weber and Darius Theus. The 27 assists was the third-highest total during the Coach Smart era at VCU (30 vs. Towson in 2009-10, 28 vs. UNCG in 2010-11).

> Today's game will be the final contest during the 2012 calendar for the Rams, who will be looking to finish the year with a 29-7 mark during the past 12 months. All seven of the losses have been less than double-digits and have
come by a total of just 25 points.

> Today is just the third all-time meeting between the two schools, but the first since 1972-73. VCU won the last meeting, 63-47, back on December 12, 1972 at the Richmond Coliseum.

> This is just the 17th all-time meeting against a current member of the Northeast Conference for the Rams, who are 9-7 in the previous 16 showdowns.
VCU is hosting a NEC program for the second straight season as the Black & Gold opened last season with Saint Francis (Pa.) at home, defeating the Red Flash, 63-57 last November.

> December has treated Coach Smart and the Rams well in recent years. In Coach Smart's three-plus seasons at the helm, VCU is 20-4 in the final month
of the calendar year, including entering today with a victory in 15 straight December games. At home under Coach Smart, VCU is a perfect 15-0 in December
games.

> With an expected sellout for this afternoon's game, VCU's consecutive sellout streak will extend to 26, the fifth-longest active streak in the country. Duke,
Kansas, Michigan State and Gonzaga are the only schools with longer streaks.

> The Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center boasts quite a home-court advantage for the Black & Gold with VCU compiling a 169-28 (.858)
record during the 13-year history of the building. The .858 winning percentage ranks as the 11th-best mark in the country in active home arenas.

> VCU enters today's contest as the nation's leader in thefts with 152 on the season. They also lead the country in steals per game at 12.7, a couple notches above fourth-ranked Louisville.
