RAMS RECEIVE FINAL FOUR RINGS

RICHMOND, Va. – With practice less than two weeks away, the VCU basketball team is looking forward to writing a new chapter in the program's history.

However, for a moment this past weekend, the players, coaches and support staff took a moment to enjoy last year's magical year one last time when the program's Final Four rings were handed out.

"There aren't many people that get an opportunity to wear one of these. It's humbling to think about all that happened this past spring and now we'll all have these as reminders of just how special it was," senior Bradford Burgess said.

The Black & Gold captured global attention this past March with their improbable run through the 2011  NCAA Tournament to the Final Four in Houston. It was so improbable that the team won the ESPY Award "Best Upset" and were in the spotlight with some of the biggest names in all of sports.

As unforgettable as the run was, Burgess and his teammates are focused on a new year that is quickly approaching.

"We know that everyone is going to be talking about last year, but our focus is solely on this year and nothing else," Burgess said.

The Rams open up team practices on Friday, October 14th with the exhibition opener set for Thursday, November 3rd against California University (Pa.).
